2/6/2008 Fell off the Wagon (Peggy)I know it has been awhile since I have posted. So here is what has happened. I did the unspeakable thing I fell off the wagon. I was craving Chinese food so I went out for Chinese and it was a buffet at that. I did eat a salad before I picked off of the buffet. It tasted so good at the time but now I feel absolutely guilty. Not only did I go but I took my sister with me. Yep we were a good support system for each other as we were going through the buffet line. While watching the Biggest Loser last night I realize that I don't eat enough calories. Some days I only eat 1000 calories which is defintly not enough and this is something that I have to work on. The other thing is willpower and not to give in to temptation. 1/23/2008 Day 17 Snacking while studyingSo I stepped on the scales yesterday and I had only lost 1 pound. It is about what I expected because I didn't exercise that much last week. I still followed my diet but I know from past experiences unless I exercise I will not lose weight. I am so proud of myself because every morning I get up and eat breakfast. This is something that I have not done in the past. I have also discovered an important fact about myself. I love to snack while I study. With taking five college classes that adds up to a lot of snacking. So instead of snacking on potato chips I have a serving of Baked Rice Krisps (I measure them out into sandwich bags so I don't eat more than a serving). They are only 120 calories for 37 chips and 25 from fat. When I am craving that sweet snack I have some dried cranberries (very good I might add) and dried pineapple (not crazy about the added sugar). I also have a really bad craving for ice cream so I went to the ice cream aisle in the grocery store and looked for an alternative. What I found was Breyers frozen fruit bars and they are only thirty calories and no fat for a small one so you can eat two and feel like you are splurging. What I have learned is that you have to read a food label and determine if something is healthy. One example of this is I was looking at pita chips which I thought was healthy but it was way high in fat and calories. Okay so I have the eating healthy thing down pact so now I have to work on my exercise routine. I have to make time to hit the gym which means I have to budget my time more wisely. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am not organized so this will be a major task. Angie I think your new downstairs neighbors will not object to you exercising. As a matter of fact I think I might come up stairs and join you. I only wish that I could kick the upstairs neighbors out sooner so I could have a work out partner that was close. Oh I found something amazing at the grocery store last night. It is called Special K Bliss. They are snack bars and they come in raspberry flavor. When I opened the package they smelled just like a raspberry chocolate bar. They don't taste half bad either and they are only 90 calories with 20 from fat. You have got to try this. Good luck this week and I know that you will stick closer to a healthier menu this week. Just keep drinking the water and take it one day at a time. By the way how was your weight loss last week?? Another week downThis week I had a really hard time to control my diet and I ended up eeating a few things that I shouldn't have, however i did eat them in moderation so I think that I still did okay. I knw that i am also an emotional eater, however mine comes from bordom and stress. And this week I have had plenty of both. I only lost one pound this week as well, so I will be trying harder this week to shed a few more pounds. exercise ihas also been a major problem for me since I don't have any extra money to go to the gym and my downstairs neighbros are total asses and don't want us making any noise up here at all. So I have stopped doing my dancing lto keep a little peace in theo house. I cannot wait until we move in a couple of omnths. Hopefully my new downstairs neighbors will be better.. :-p Right Peggy? 1/17/2008 Day 11 A busy Week (Peggy)My college classes started on Monday, so with working 6 hours a day, going to the gym after work, and then studying and homework I haven't had that much time to blog this week. Not only have I been a little lax about blogging but I have also been a little lax about going to the gym and working out. I have only been to the gym twice this week doing only about a half an hour of cardio both days and a half an hour of strength training on Wednesday. Tomorrow we are supposed to have snow, freezing rain, and sleet and if the roads are bad there goes Friday being able to work out at the gym. I do have shoveling snow that I will most likely be doing so at least I will get some exercise in. If anyone has any ideas for cardio activities that someone can do while being snow bound without any fitness equipment I would really love them. So far this winter we have more snow than we had all last winter and it looks like we are only going to get more snow. I work at a school and we have already had three snow days (days off from school for those of you who have not had the pleasure of experiencing yucky snow Although I have not had much exercise this week I have been really diligent on my diet. I eaten healthy all this week well except for today I had a dunkin donuts hot chocolate. This is the only craving that I have given in to during the past two weeks. Although I had this I was still within my calorie range. I'm not sure my partner is going to like the fact that I have been slacking a little this week. Sorry Angie. 1/15/2008 Time to catch up (angie)Well, I have been having internet issues this week, so iI have been a little lax on blogging, but I have not been lax on the exercise. Yesterday I had wanted to go for a walk, but woke up with a killer migraine for my 6th day in a row. I ended up rolling back over and going back to sleep and my husband got up with our 4 year old to let me get some extra sleep. Most of the day I had a headache, but still managed to drink 10glasses of water and do 100 crunches. I also did some stretches and walked up and down our driveway a few times. This was a major feat for me since we had 16 inches of snow on the ground yesterday from the same storm that Peggy was talking about. I am also disapointed at my weight loss this week, I oly lost 3 lbs.. not bad, but not what i was hoping for. Also this week I have also been dealing with the downstairs neighbros complaining that my exercise was bothering them. So now I am not sure what I want to do. I mean I pay remt as much as they do, so what is an hour of dancing a couple times of day to get the old heart reat and musles going. Apparently they consider that excessive. I don't get out of the house much since it is winter an due to my husbands work schedule . Oh well for now I am still exercising and eating healthy. Now if i could figure out why I am getting these headaches that last all day and are so severe that all I want to do is sleep, I will be doing a lot better. Peggy funny you mention your dream, last night I went to bed really stressed and in the little bit of sleep i did get i was dreaming of eating a huge steak, and for desert we had (you and I ) my whole wedding cake, and you know how much of that there was.. hehe Then i was thinking i need something to drink to wash that down so we both grabbed a gallon of milk, whole for me and skim for you and chugged it down. Can't say I woke up satisfied , but i did wake up chewing on my pillow case. hrm wonder how many calories were in that. 1/14/2008 Day 8 The Big Weigh In and Snow bound (Peggy)My goal for today was to work out doing 70 minutes of cardio ( ten minutes more than last week) and 30 minutes of strength. I received a call this morning at 5:30 telling me to stay home that there was going to be any work today ( I work at a high school) and we were having a snow day. I looked out the window and it hadn't started snowing yet and instead of getting up right then to go work out I rolled over and went back to sleep. Big mistake finally got up at 9 we had over 6 inches of snow on the ground and it was still coming down hard. Even at this late hour it is still snowing. I took one look at the roads and decided that going to work out was not really worth the drive today. So all day today I was snow bound. I did however shovel snow for a half an hour so I did get some work out in but not the type that I wanted. But I guess some exercise is better than none.
When I stepped on the scales this morning I was disappointed to see that I had only lost three pounds. I guess losing 3 pounds is better than gaining it however it is not the big numbers that i was expecting. I watched what I ate really carefully last week and even worked out hard. So I guess I am just going to have to try harder. 1/13/2008 Day 7 The junk food filled dream (Peggy)So I must admit today I am extremly nervous about my weigh in tomorrow. Will I have lost any weight at all? I know that I only exercised three days this week but I have watched what I ate very carefully. So who knows what tomorrow will bring?
Last night I had the funniest dream. I dreamt that I was grocery shopping and instead of buying healthy food I bought ice cream and cream rolls and all kinds of jumk food. I can remember eating cream rolls and it seemed so realistic. When I woke up I thought that I had ruined everything and had eaten sweets. I must have been craving something sweet. Has anyone had the same dream or am I the only one?
Today I made a salmon loaf my all time favorite and ate a small portion with a baked potato for supper tonight. It was extremly good and satisfying. It wasn't the cream rolls and sweets that I had dreamed about but it was good all the same. It would have been so easy to go to the store today to buy junk food but I resisted the urge. |
